…and the Flawed Will Ruin their World

I had always thought the divide this country was ideological; I understand now that it is not that complex. The divide in this country is between those who care only for themselves & ‘their kind’ and those who care for life itself and the quality of that life.

The self-centered call themselves “conservative” and what they seek to conserve is the status quo of their own rigid requirements for how the world should be viewed and how life should be lived. They seek to ensure that they are not challenged by change, that they will not be forced to open their minds to possibilities that are other than the ones that make up the foundation on which they have built their lives.

Essentially, they are anti-evolution, glorying in their own twisted perception of themselves, because they must, because they have to convince themselves of their manufactured truth that in their ideal world, nothing changes… ignoring entirely the fact that everything living changes constantly, ignoring the fact that everything must change constantly if life itself is to continue because life has to keep up with an earth that changes constantly… and that everything on earth is a part of that.

We are flawed creatures, humans. Our brains have done us in. We have turned on each other for centuries. And over what? Land and ideas, usually. One can easily understand animals fighting over land; communication and negotiation are not their strong points. Humans, though, are known for their ability to communicate yet, more often than not, over history’s timeline, they have chosen to forgo negotiation in favor of killing each other, like the animals they pretend not to be. It is ironic that the fear of survival leads to so much death, and apparently all that killing is not all that that effective a deterrent for anything because it just…keeps…on…going.

Humans fancy themselves high on the ladder, well above the other species. I fancy them on the bottom rung. Slow learners at best.
