Are we,

The human race,

I wonder,

Some sad experiment…

A planted seed that promised growth

Then failed and simply bent.

Could we have lived, I wonder,

As bees within a hive,

Or dolphins in the deep blue sea

Who, as a pod, all thrive?

I watch a chipmunk skitter

Through the fallen leaves,

The birds up in the treetops

With no need to ‘believe’

We’re flawed, I think,

A grand mistake,

The worst of what might be

And pale, in comparison,

To every living tree.

The first time I saw Lena, she was rounding a corner in our house that broadly consisted of the doorway that led from the kitchen, skirted the entrance corner area of the dining room, then opened into a small so-called entrance hall that lay between the front door, the…

I am a vagina.

This is my story.

I am a vagina; I am a passageway, a hall, a tunnel, a glove, a slip-and-slide.

Things move it through me, coming and going and mostly coming.

I do nothing, except squeeze occasionally. My job is to…

Lunch with Mom

Days come and they go;

They bring what they bring;

And the music they make

Is a song you can sing.

And if you can learn

How to dance to the tune -

Perhaps even sing along –

Then your heart can beat

To the rhythm of life

And your life can become a song.

I’ve written on Medium before about my experience of making eye-to-eye contact with my firstborn child which event took place almost 48 years ago. The pregnancy itself had been a blast, an experience I totally enjoyed right up until I didn’t, which was about five hours into what would become…

When was the last time you used — or heard used — any of the following words in the context of an insult?

Dick (also Dick-head)

Penis (face, head, brain, etc.)

I‘m kind of hoping that your answer to that question was, “Never have; never will.”…

I know who I am. For as long as I can recall, I have known who I am; and, for as long as I can recall, someone, somewhere has had trouble with that… I have ceased to give a fark. (That’s so cute! Dragon Speaking (un) Naturally — which I…

I am a 75-year-old woman, vibrant and vital, a writer and an artist. I am married to a 75-year-old man, a retired scientist who has taken up building things, including the house we live in, two sheds — because… tools — a play-set for the kids in the community, etc…
